Acoustic conditioning of the press room of a City Hall of Andalusia

Project description

When we think of rooms with acoustic conditioning, we usually think of large rooms dedicated to music, such as auditoriums, theaters…. But these types of rooms are not the only ones that require good acoustics to achieve good speech intelligibility indices, or for music to be heard well.

In this project we were called to improve the acoustics of a Press Conference room of a City Hall of Andalusia. A type of room that we do not think of a priori when we think of venues that require special acoustic treatment, but in which acoustic conditioning is essential so that the sound of the press conferences can be well captured, and then be able to broadcast it. .

This Press Conference room is a rectangular room with a small platform where there is a conference table where the person who is going to present will sit and speak facing the audience seats. Specifically, this room already had a perforated ceiling initially, which tends to be thought to have very good acoustic qualities, but is really only effective in a narrow band of frequencies, related to the diameter of its perforations. To complement the low acoustic absorption that this type of ceiling has, we complement by incorporating sound-absorbing EliAcoustic acoustic panels on the walls. The color combination chosen I look for the combination with the rest of the design and aesthetics of the room. These walls are optimized for the spectrum of voice (which will be the main source of noise in the press room).

With this acoustic treatment, the Press Conference room went from having poor acoustics, to having optimal acoustics where you can make presentations, and that both listeners and audio recordings have ideal sound quality.
